Tree Ferns

Dicksonia antarctica are among the oldest species of plants offering a prehistoric beauty to any Garden. These ferns are slow-growing, and can live for centuries with even small specimens being substantially older than plants of a similar size.

They prefer moist partial shade, and will require constant watering especially during dry periods.

Whilst they can tolerate mild frosts it is best to protect the crown from frost and snow, with fleece, hessian or straw, as prolonged sub zero conditions can inhibit frond development. Protection can then be removed in Spring.

It is best to keep the crown and trunk watered and fed regularly throughout the growing season from Spring through to Autumn.

These magnificent plants can grow to 10ft x 10ft eventually.
