Roses are frequently voted the most popular garden plant in the UK, as a result of their broad range of shapes, sizes and colours. There are numerous types of Rose each with its different characteristics. We stock the most popular types of rose with a wide choice of variety in each.

We tend to stock up on roses throughout Autumn and Spring when the plants are dormant or in early stage of growth. These are the best time to plant your new roses so they can get established without the stress of trying to create blooms. We recommend using either well-rotted manure or rose compost dug well into your border when planting roses.

We sell roses throughout the summer but the varieties available might not be as extensive as early autumn and spring.

Our Roses are all UK grown.

Patio Roses

A patio rose is a miniature floribunda rose that can come in a variety of styles. Patio roses do not require too much maintenance and are smaller than the average rose. There are many varieties all with showy blooms, and many are highly scented.

Patio roses can grow between 18 and 24 inches high so the pots must cater for this and be around 36 inches deep to accommodate the root requirements.

Flower Carpet Roses

Flower Carpets can produce an astonishing display of up to 2,000 flowers from spring through to autumn. These roses are extraordinarily low maintenance, with no pruning if your happy to let the rose grow naturally. They also have exceptional disease resistance.

When established their well-developed root system means they’re drought and low-water tolerant: surface roots take up available surface water while deeper roots access lower level water in drought conditions.

Floribunda

Floribundas are bushy, upright shrub roses characterised by clusters of flowers that repeat flower through summer and autumn (in contrast to hybrid teas which produce flowers singly on each stem).

Each flower is smaller than hybrid teas but are produced in large clusters giving an impressive floral display.

Hybrid Tea

Hybrid teas are an extremely popular type of rose. The name referring their creation by cross-breeding Hybrid Perpetual and Tea roses. This means they are both hardy and typically repeat flowering, producing large flowers that open from long, straight stems which usually have one bloom per stem.

Great for using as cut flowers.

Climbers

This is a vast family of roses of all flowering types. There is a massive selection of different flower colours, sizes and types, some with fantastic scent others best for wildlife there is a rose for every fence, wall, tree, or even tumbling over a pergola or gazebo.

These summer flowering beauties reward even the laziest gardeners with a multitude of flowers for very little effort, as they require minimal pruning.

Ramblers

Rambling Roses generally flower only once early in the summer. Individual blooms tend to be smaller than most climbers and come in large trusses, but for sheer quantity of bloom they are unsurpassed.

Although normally trained upwards to cover a large fence or wall, their lax nature also make them useful for trailing down slopes. Some of the vigorous sorts can be trained up through trees or used to smother unsightly buildings.
